Bright sunshine all around was the forecast for the 5th round of this series and they weren't wrong.
With a little colour left in the lakes from the rain earlier on in the week expectations were running high for those drawn on the canal lake, that was all to change as the day progressed as the top weight on the canal was Marcus from the bitterwell tribe with 3-2 of small roach and skimmers.
Over on the old lake saw Mark Taylor draw peg 13 and there was no messing about with pinkeis and faggots, it was straight out at 16 mts with corn and 30 mins in Mark was on his 4th carp and a new lake record was starting to form.
Wrong, things did slow up and he only managed a few more after this frantic start.
Trying to catch up was Brian Shanks on peg 8 who had a mixed bag of silvers and small carp for 27lb but it was not going to beat Marks 36lb.
